As Finance Manager, you will manage the day to day financial and business operations and drive improvement of the company through developing a business management structure to measure and review financial and operating performance.

Our client is seeking a highly driven individual with an intellectual and curious mindset to gain deep understanding of the business and team, drive continuous improvement of financial performance, business procedures and practices.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial strategies, business policies, and procedures to optimise the company's financial and operating performance.
  • Conduct regular financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting to provide accurate financial reports and insights for decision-making.
  • Design and monitor business metrics, identify trends, and proactively recommend actions to improve financial results and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the management team to provide guidance and support in achieving business objectives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly management accounts, including WIP, job costing, income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Stay updated with changes in accounting regulations and ensure compliance with tax laws and reporting requirements.
  • Manage cash flow effectively to optimise working capital, mitigate financial risks, and maximise profitability.
  • Collaborate with other managers to promote cross-functional teamwork and achieve organisational goals.
  • Providing guidance, support, and professional development to team members.
  • Support the development of standard operating procedures and structured business processes.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in finance and share knowledge with the team.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Ideally be ACCA/CIMA/ICAS qualified or in progress to qualifying.
  • 3+ years in supervisory or management position.
  • History of managing a small team.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft software, especially Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Intellectual curiosity to develop a deep understanding of business issues, and proven ability to express recommendations in a professional manner.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and an eagerness to collaborate with colleagues across the business.
  • Proven ability to liaise effectively with senior leaders, peers and team members at all levels.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable experience of working independently and autonomously while leading an engaged finance team.
  • Knowledge of the constuction sector is beneficial.
