The project:

This is an exciting opportunity as we are growing our design team within the North of England to service the 'Consult' engine across our Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham offices.

The role will be based out of our new Leeds office and the successful candidate will join the team working alongside a Senior Architect, Architectural assistant and a multi-disciplined design team on the development of feasibility studies under our Technical Advisors (TA) role for the Department for Education as well as several key appointments for Local Authorities. Our multidisciplinary design team sits as part of Mace's consultancy technical services and includes architects, engineers, urban designers, master planners and interior designers.

The position will be a permanent contract.

The successful candidate will be delivering feasibility studies at RIBA stages 1-2 and the technical reviews of schemes through later RIBA stages. As such, a key requirement for this role is the willingness to learn as there are a series of technical specifications and processes that are involved in the delivery of this work. Day to day tasks will include leading projects, overseeing and undertaking the preparation of drawings, schedules, graphics, technical reports and client and design team meetings.

You'll be responsible for:

Distributes and manages the deliverables through direct /indirect reports. Provides design and manage the developing design as per contract requirements. Collaborates with the wider design disciplines, client personnel and construction teams. Reports on progress to relevant parties attends/participates in client meetings and design workshops as necessary. Manages direct reports work outputs to ensure it is timely, in scope and of a quality expected. Supports in bidding with the wider team where required. Engages with business improvement directives where applicable. Implements training plans for the teams. Leads business improvement working groups to deliver outcomes. Identifies and implements continuous improvement plans/identifies key business improvements. Develops & maintains a series of both internal and external relationships. Manages & influences Key/Senior stakeholders. Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

You'll need to have:

A positive, proactive, and enthusiastic attitude.Strong communication skills and the ability to work autonomously.Be a both a team leader and a team player.Knowledge of UK building regulations.Proficiency using AutoCAD / Revit along with the Adobe Creative Suite.

You'll also have:

Some experience in a UK-based architectural practice working on education projects will be advantageous but not necessary.
