As a Staff Disability Adviser, you will contribute to the creation of a workplace culture in which the needs of disabled staff are prioritised and supported consistently and equitably. Enabling an improved workplace environment and experience for our prospective and existing disabled staff. A key objective of our One University Disability Equality Strategy and Action Plan is to ensure that disabled staff, managers and HR colleagues have ready access to internal expertise in matters relating to disability and support for reasonable adjustments.

The role is designed to provide a first point of contact for disabled staff, managers and HR colleagues requiring support and advice relating to disability in the workplace. Taking a case management approach, you will assess needs and identify relevant support and signposting. This will include making recommendations for potential reasonable adjustments and in providing advice and guidance to ensure successful outcomes for staff

To succeed in this role, you will have excellent knowledge and experience of disability within a work context. You will take a highly consultative and collaborative approach and have an understanding of the barriers experienced by disabled people, how to remove them and to identify practical and value added outcomes.

You will be an integral member of the Staff Wellbeing Team that sits within the Organisational Development part of the Human Resources department. The team is responsible for the delivery of projects and services aimed at supporting all staff to thrive during their working lives at the University. Our work includes support for staff experiencing mental health challenges, creating inclusive working environments for disabled staff and a neuro-inclusive workplace, support for key life stages such as the menopause and for those with caring responsibilities, amongst many others.
