We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Careers Advisor and University Counsellor to join our team at Reddam House Berkshire. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing independent and impartial careers guidance to students aged 11-18, supporting them in making well-informed decisions about their future academic and career paths. The candidate should hold a qualification in careers guidance and also possess expertise in the UCAS application process for UK universities and be well-versed in the Common App process for universities in the USA and Europe.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Career Guidance:

· Offer personalised and comprehensive careers advice to students, taking into account their individual interests, skills, and aspirations.

· Conduct one-on-one and group sessions to discuss career options, academic pathways, and vocational opportunities.

· Stay updated on industry trends, labour market demands, and educational requirements to provide effective guidance.

2. University Counselling:

They should assist the Head of 6th Form in;

· Assisting students in navigating the UCAS application process for UK universities and colleges.

· Guiding students through the Common App process for universities in the USA, ensuring a clear understanding of admission requirements and procedures.

· Providing support in preparing and submitting university applications, including personal statements and recommendation letters.

· Contribute to the Oxbridge programme, including helping prepare students for admissions tests

3. Additional Responsibilities:

· Maintain placement records, produce reports about placements and update school profile (including on the school internet page and online profile).

· Maintain credit checks.

· Be responsible for the delivery of independent and impartial careers information, advice, and guidance at Reddam House Berkshire.

· Lead in providing careers information, advice, and guidance at Reddam House Berkshire.

· Lead the overall strategic direction and delivery of Careers at Reddam House Berkshire.

· Make students aware of work experience opportunities that are available

· Be responsible for employer engagement to support the school's careers programme.

4. Main Responsibilities:

· Lead the strategic planning and delivery of Careers at Reddam House Berkshire.

· Complete statutory, impartial careers interviews with students in Year 10 or 11.

· Provide opportunities for careers interviews at Sixth Form and Middle school where deemed appropriate.

· Develop an appropriate system for recording interviews and producing individual action plans.

· Provide advice clinics at Reddam House Berkshire, supporting students and staff with pathways, training routes, the job market, CV writing, and application support.

· Support with the delivery of assemblies, signposting services, and the provision of specific careers-related resources.

· Be available to provide support at GCSE and A Level Options Evenings for offering advice and guidance to parents.

· Assist the Head of 6th Form with post-18 options, including the UCAS process and support for Apprenticeship applications.

· Provide 1:1 careers advice on A-Level and GCSE result days (August).

· Liaise with schools, employers, and professional services to support the facilitation visiting career speakers as part of the wider Careers programme.

· Lead the Careers Programme to ensure coverage of the Gatsby Benchmarks.

· Plan and implement careers events in line with key dates such as Careers Week and National Apprenticeship Week.

· Communicate with key stakeholders and promote the Careers Programme through various means, e.g., Careers section in the school Newsletter.

· Report regularly to the school leadership on university/college applications and placements

· Keep up-to-date on issues and trends related to University placement through professional development and attending local conferences.

· Complete all student reports and mid-year reports requested by the school

· Be available for parent conferences and "drop-ins" ("Open Door" policy).

· Coordinate Oxbridge and similar admissions tests.

· Communicating, in a supportive way, decisions taken by the school leadership team.

· Contributing to the building of an open, responsive and welcoming ethos for the school towards stakeholders.

· Organising university tours and visits.

· Work closely with Inspired schools and Head Office

· Any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Principal.
