The Role

Operations and Greenspace are responsible for the delivery of a number of important front-line

functions relating to arboriculture, countryside, street cleansing, grounds maintenance, and

playground services.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and qualified individual to join our

Countryside Estates operational team. The position will be as a Countryside Estates Ranger to

work as part of a team to carry various greenspace management works across the borough, under

the supervision of the Countryside Estates Supervisor. The main duties will be countryside

management including hard and soft landscaping, grounds maintenance, woodland management, and

tree planting, driving relevant vehicles, traffic management and the operation and maintenance

of all associated equipment.

About You

You should hold relevant qualifications and have experience working in one or more of the

following: countryside management, hard and soft landscaping, forestry or woodland management,

estates or grounds maintenance and hold a full UK driving license. Trailer towing entitlement

would also be desirable. Experience of working with power tools such as strimmers, mowers and

chainsaws would also be desirable. The successful candidate must be able to work well as part

of a team and have good communication skills to interact with the general public.

Working hours would be a set 36 hours a week, Monday to Friday. As part of this role the

successful candidate would also be expected to participate, periodically, in the Council's

24-hour emergency call out rota.
