We have an exciting opportunity in the Information School at the University of Sheffield to join a leading School to work as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Library and Information Science with Professor Briony Birdi, a leading researcher in the field.
The overarching theme of Briony's research is the social, political and/or educational role of public and youth libraries. Her work has contributed to our understanding of libraries and their role in society, bringing a critical but constructive perspective to a service and profession in crisis. This post offers an opportunity for the successful candidate to work with Briony on a variety of ongoing and new research projects broadly concerned with libraries, leadership and social justice (including decolonisation). You will be expected to contribute to the collection, analysis and write-up of research projects to the point of publication, to the co-design, writing and submitting of grant applications, and in completing literature reviews. Candidates should be able to demonstrate an excellent research trajectory in the field of public and/or youth librarianship as evidenced through a growing research profile, effective written and verbal communication skills, and excellent planning and organisational skills. Support for career development and some time to conduct your own research is included in the position.
