School Librarian / School Library Assistant with experience of working with and motivating young people to engage, excellent communication skills, who is a champion of literacy is required to join a well-established Academy Trust based in Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire.

Training Provided - Whilst previous experience in a similar role is desirable, it is not essential for this role as training will be provided.

SALARY: £22,737 per annum FTE / Actual Annual Salary £9,487 per annum

LOCATION: Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 18 hours per week, days and times to be agreed for the right candidate at interview, term time only (39 weeks)

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a School Librarian / School Library Assistant with experience of working with and motivating young people to engage, excellent communication skills, who is a champion of literacy.

Working as the School Librarian / School Library Assistant you will support the team on their journey to excellence where they strive to provide an exceptional education al experience for every student.

As the School Librarian / School Library Assistant you will play a pivotal role in:

  • Developing and curating a dynamic library collection: You'll select engaging and age-appropriate resources that cater to diverse student interests and support the curriculum across all subjects
  • Promoting a love of reading: You'll design and deliver engaging programs that encourage students to become lifelong readers, fostering a culture of exploration and discovery
  • Collaborating with teachers: You'll work closely with faculty to integrate information literacy skills and library resources into the curriculum, enhancing learning across all subjects
  • Providing research support: You'll guide students in developing research skills and navigating information sources, empowering them to become independent learners
  • Creating a welcoming and inclusive space: You'll cultivate a vibrant library environment that fosters a love of learning and encourages students to see the library as a hub for exploration and collaboration

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in a similar role would be beneficial
  • High level of communication skills - verbal and written
  • A champion of Literacy
  • Team player with enthusiasm, perseverance, flexibility and adaptability
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
