We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a new Head of IT Cyber Security to join our IT Department and oversee, monitor, secure, and maintain the whole of the Marshalls IT infrastructure estate. This includes but is not limited to business systems, personal devices (PCs, laptops, smartphones, tablets, printers, etc.), data networks, data centres, communication systems, local servers, standard productivity tools, and cloud systems.

What's the mission?

• Lead contact for security and data privacy requests, coordinating responses and audits.
• Develop and monitor long-term cybersecurity strategy and compliance KPIs.
• Promote data protection awareness through training and disseminated procedures.
• Collaborate with internal teams for cybersecurity engagement across the user base.
• Ensure organisational compliance with data protection principles and highlight key risk areas.
• Develop and enforce data protection policies in accordance with regulations, continually improving processes.
• Maintain data owner register, educate owners on responsibilities, and oversee data flow mapping.
• Assist in security testing, incident investigation, and reporting/remedial actions as required.
• Provide comprehensive reports to leadership teams on security and data privacy risks.
• Liaise with stakeholders, manage project lifecycle, assess technology solutions, and participate in information security working groups.

What are the mission-critical skills?

• Professional education in Information Security and Data Protection, with relevant certifications like CISM, CISSP, ISEB Data Protection, CIPP/E.
• Comprehensive understanding of security and data management in business and cloud computing environments.
• Proficiency in the UK Data Protection Act, information security principles, and risk analysis.
• Familiarity with ISO 27001 certification, Cyber Essentials, and Agile (especially SCRUM) and Waterfall Project methodologies.
• Capability to handle confidential/sensitive information and communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
• Independent worker with strong initiative, able to prioritise tasks and work across disciplines.
• Proficient in Microsoft or Google office productivity software, with authoring skills for technical and non-technical documentation.
• Leadership qualities demonstrated through IT leadership roles, ability to influence business decisions, and coaching high-performing teams.
• Results-oriented mindset, challenging conventional methodologies, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Experience managing external service providers and implementing new systems, policies, and technologies to enhance efficiency and automation in a matrix organisation.
