Department Description

Finance UK is looking to recruit an apprentice to work in the department, whilst having the opportunity to study for the internationally recognised Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification.

All training / study costs will paid for to undertake the AAT qualification via a training provider and attend college (either face to face or virtually) as necessary. Day release will be available, together with study leave.

The AAT is a highly valued qualification by employers, allowing students to start at a foundation level and progress to an advanced level (and chartered study if desirable).

Full training will be provided so this is an ideal opportunity if you have no experience in Finance or never studied accountancy before. Practical experience will be provided 'on-the-job' and knowledge developed through completion of the AAT qualification.

Job Description

The Apprentice will initially work in an Accounts / Finance Assistant role in the Accounts Payable Section, which is primarily responsible for the payment of claims, commission, supplier invoices and employee expenses in the UK and Ireland.

In this role you will be required to:

  • Make payment in line with HMRC dispensations and according to fiscal rules.
  • Ensure customer/supplier accounts are maintained to the highest standard, requiring direct contact with customers/suppliers and brokers (at all levels).
  • Liaise with the Business Units and the Claims Recovery Unit in order to resolve customer account queries.
  • Record invoices promptly and accurately in order to ensure the integrity of the accounts/ledgers.
  • Provide reports using Oracle Financials to facilitate accurate financial reporting and decision making

The successful candidate should have a minimum of 5 GCSE'S including English and Maths (equivalent to grade C or above). The candidate should be able to communicate clearly and confidently by telephone and possess a professional telephone manner.

Requirements

Candidates should be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure and to tight deadlines; be motivated, committed and self-driven whilst being able to work successfully within a team in order to meet targets.

Knowledge of Microsoft Excel would be an advantage.
