This is a fixed term appointment for 1 year until 30 November 2025
The Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment (GRI) has established a new Centre for Economic Transition Expertise (CETEx), focused on leveraging, strengthening and amplifying research, and developing well targeted policy analysis and other outputs, by convening policymakers, and by providing technical support, assistance and capacity-building. This new centre will support the reforms necessary to deliver sustainable, inclusive and resilient economies and financial systems across Europe.
The post holder will work on research projects within the Monetary and Financial Markets pillar of CETEx, focusing on the role of central banking, financial supervisory and financial market policy frameworks and instruments. They will employ their reputation for rigorous academic research and related activities and engagement, also at a senior level, to ensure that research outputs have demonstrable impact and inform the public debate.
Candidates should have a PhD in Environmental Policy and Development, economic sociology, science and technology studies or closely related fields by the post start date. They should have experience in analysing and researching how financial systems, markets and actors govern and organise their relationship with climate change with a focus on the role of calculative tools in the context of central banking and financial market supervision. They should also have experience of conducting research on the NGFS climate reference scenarios and their design and development. Experience of developing research strategies and agendas for research centres and networks is essential.
