Key responsibilities

As a Digital Analytics Developer, you'll be the mastermind behind our high-quality self-serve dashboards and foundational data products. You'll collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders to enhance our understanding of digital performance, shaping future strategies, improving customer experiences, boosting engagement, driving revenue, and increasing business efficiencies across B&Q and TradePoint.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dashboard Development: Create intuitive self-serve dashboards that bring our digital performance to life, guiding business strategy and decision-making.
  • Data Visualisation: Design dynamic visualisations that go beyond mere metrics, enabling users to quickly identify causation and correlation with advanced drill-down and filtering features.
  • Performance Modelling: Continuously refine performance models to help digital teams predict the future impact of business decisions.
  • Data Governance: Curate and control our stakeholder-facing report repository, ensuring reliable and consistent data access for analysis and reporting.
  • Agile Practices: Work within agile frameworks to deliver on priorities that meet diverse analytical needs.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards through rigorous testing, documentation, and adherence to best practices in data governance and quality compliance.
  • Growth Mindset: Embrace continuous learning, experimentation, and collaboration.
  • Community Engagement: Actively participate in the wider data community, engaging with group data teams and other banners.
  • Support New Channels: Provide key data sets and self-serve reporting to support the growth of new channels, services, digital, marketplace, and retail media.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Build strong relationships with stakeholders, translating their goals into analytical challenges.
  • External Insights: Bring fresh perspectives by staying updated on analytics trends in retail and other sectors, and keeping an eye on competitor developments.
  • Business Understanding: Develop a deep understanding of business processes, systems, and data structures to ensure reporting solutions are built on relevant data points.
  • Website Tagging: Define and develop website tagging requirements and recommendations.

Required skills & experience

Your Expertise:

  • Self-Serve Solutions: You're a pro at creating and delivering actionable self-serve solutions using modern BI tools, especially Power BI.
  • Data Visualisation & BI: You understand the best practices in Data Visualisation and Business Intelligence.
  • Technical Skills: You're proficient in SQL and may have dabbled in other languages like Python or R.
  • Cloud Platforms: You've worked with cloud-based analytical platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, and Google BigQuery.
  • Analytics Tools: Ideally, you're well-versed in Google Analytics (including GA4) and SAP Business Objects.
  • Agile Methodologies: You have experience working within Agile methodologies and approaches.
  • Data Workflows: You've built and managed data workflows using tools like Airflow and Databricks.
  • Data Governance & Quality: You understand the importance of Data Governance and Data Quality, and know what best practices look like.
  • Project Management Tools: You've used Asana or Jira/Confluence to manage workloads and documentation, organizing, prioritizing, and tracking tasks and projects. You can also create and maintain clear and concise documentation for your team and stakeholders.
  • Curiosity & Problem-Solving: You're curious about how things work and love getting to the bottom of business problems and data nuances.
  • Commercial Insight: You understand and maximize the value of analysis and self-serve data products, acting with a commercial lens to prioritize actions and outputs.
  • Storytelling: You're a skilled storyteller who can bring value to others, knowing that numbers don't always speak for themselves and using excellent visuals to support your insights.
