We are now looking for a Careers Adviser to join our Student Services team at our Carmarthen campus, on a part-time basis, working 22.2 hours per week, on a Permanent basis.

THE ROLE

The main purpose of the post is to provide professional career education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) to students and graduates of the University. You will design and deliver group presentations, workshops and seminars and provide advice and guidance to individual students. The organisation of relevant careers events will also be responsibility for the post holder. You will be expected to work in close collaboration with the careers team, academics and external stakeholders such as employers.

The Careers Adviser will have responsibility for working with the Institute of Education and Humanities courses at Carmarthen.

ABOUT YOU

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Educated to HND or degree level
  • Part 2 of the Diploma / Qualification in Career Guidance OR NVQ Level 4 in Advice and Guidance OR AGCAS Postgraduate Diploma in CEIG HE

It would also be beneficial if you have:

  • Previous experience of providing high quality career information, education, advice and guidance to students and graduates in a one-to-one setting
  • Previous experience of devising and delivery of group sessions to students and graduates
  • Previous experience of working successfully with a range of external clients e.g., employers/ professional bodies and organizing events
  • Ability to explain complex issues to a range of clients and colleagues both in writing and orally
  • Excellent IT and digital literacy skills
  • Ability to understand diverse student needs whilst having the commercial awareness to broaden horizons and raise aspirations
  • Ability to communicate through medium of Welsh (desirable)
