Summary of Role
You will oversee the collection, analysis and consolidation of financial data to ensure the effective management of Hall & Kay finances. You will play a pivotal role in the maintenance of financial controls, processes and systems and ensure that these are in line with statutory requirements.
Note: This role is not open to hybrid working options as is fully office based.
What you will be doing- key Responsibilities
Monthly P&L Production & Trial Balance:
Produce Profit and Loss statements by location and other relevant metrics monthly.Conduct variance analysis to identify exceptional movements.Ensure the maintenance of the Trial Balance.Complete or approve all balance sheet reconciliations monthly.
Team Management:
Oversee Accounts Receivable/Credit Control and Accounts Payable teams.Manage Financial Accounts, Payroll/Time sheet management, and Fleet Costs.Set and manage KPIs for Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP).Ensure tight cash control and maximisation of receipts.
Credit Control, Reconciliation & Rebates:
Conduct new customer credit checks and monitor credit limits.Ensure cash management aligns with forecasts and report daily to the Financial Director.Regularly check and approve bank account reconciliations.Ensure supplier reconciliations are performed accurately.Perform random invoice checks against purchase orders.Manage supplier rebate programs and inform operational management of spend levels.Manage companywide customer rebate schemes.
Internal Controls:
Collaborate with the IT Manager to ensure system access controls are in place.Assess systems and procedures for potential fraud.Act as the primary point of contact for the company's ERP system to reduce third-party support calls.Work with Quantity Surveyors to manage late receipts while maintaining customer relationships.
Expense and Payroll Management:
Approve financial expenses prior to payment.Verify sales employees' commissions and bonus calculations.Reconcile payroll reports and provide monthly change reports to the Financial Director.
Tax, Statutory & policy Compliance:
Handle VAT, PAYE, Class 1A reconciliations and payments.Manage subcontractor tax schedules and payments.Prepare statutory accounts and work with auditors to ensure timely filing.Manage external auditors during interim and final audits.Maintain and enforce company policies and procedures.Complete all required government official statistics.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA) (Essential). Proven experience in a similar financial control role. Strong understanding of financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analysis. Excellent team management and leadership skills. Proficiency in ERP systems and financial software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in the Fire Engineering industry or Construction industry would be an advantage but not essential. Advanced proficiency in MS office packages in particular Excel Familiarity with government statistical reporting requirements.
