Are you an excellent English teacher? Are you ambitious about the leadership of a core department in our growing academy? Do you want to lead an exciting department crucial to our academy? We are in our third year and still growing as an academy. This is an opportunity to shape, develop and implement the curriculum and learning in English.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced, confident, and enthusiastic Head of Department. This is a key appointment and is integral to the continued growth and development of the academy. You will lead staff and students across the academy and bring ideas, ambition, creativity and high standards.
The BOA Group is a Multi-Academy Trust of specialist academies located in Birmingham city centre, in the hub of the creative and digital industries. Though based in Birmingham, the academies recruit from across the wider Midlands region.
The BOA Group is a distinctive Multi-Academy Trust, which has grown from our first school, Birmingham Ormiston Academy (BOA). We now have 3 purpose-built academies all close to the city centre.
BOA Digital Technologies, a brand new 11-18 Free School, welcomed its first cohort of Year 7 students in September 2022. By September 2024 there will be three full year groups, Years 7 to 9. Our vision is to offer a truly unique and distinctive education and provide a new model of teaching underpinned by digital skills and learning. Located in the heart of Birmingham's growing technology and digital hub, close to industrial and academic partners, and with first-class facilities, BOA Digital is looking to meet the UK's growing need for a high-class digital workforce.
We are looking for a colleague to take on the leadership of English. This department plays a vital role. Not only do we want to develop the English skills of our students, but also how our digital specialism can be used appropriately. There are natural links between English and our technology projects and we would welcome ideas you have in this area.
You will encourage a climate of mutual support in which self-confidence and self-esteem across all staff as the academy grows year on year. It is an exciting place to work and our children represent the diversity of our city.

We are looking for someone who has:
Qualified teacher status and a degree.A strong track record in the classroom and has some leadership experience within a secondary school settingA passion for creativity in EnglishThe ability to work in collaboration with other members of staff Exceptional personal organisation and time management skillsThe ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writingThe ability to guide students' academic, personal, and professional development, in accordance with the academy's guidelines and proceduresAn understanding of the key national and educational policies and issuesThe ability to inspire high achievement in young people from all backgroundsPresence, enthusiasm, good sense of humour and approachabilityAn excellent record of punctuality This is an excellent opportunity to make a difference to the future of education within a world class academy.
