We are looking for a junior Pastry Chef to join our in-house bakery team Full-time position with immediate start.

Our bakery produces sourdough bread, ciabattas, cakes, cookies, traybakes, muffins & treats for the food-to-go counter in Battersea Park, as well as for our sister cafe in Clapham and a third site due to open in the spring.

We also make sourdough pizza dough for our seasonal pizza offering in the summer months.
The bakery is air-conditioned and professionally equipped with Chandley ovens, Ferneto Mixers, JAC Slicer, etc.
You will be working in a small, friendly team, and you will help with all aspects of the production and efficient overall running of the bakery, including:

  • \tmeeting daily production targets for all Pear Tree Cafe sites
  • \tdeveloping and managing all recipes and production within the cafe's remit
  • \toverseeing accurate and clear packing
  • \tstock management and ordering
  • \tnew product development
  • \tstaff training
  • \tfood safety and hygiene

Required skills and experience:

  • \tpassion and enthusiasm for pastry, bread and raw ingredients
  • \ta genuine love and knowledge of pastry production
  • \tprevious experience in a similar bakery or patisserie
  • \tpunctual and organised, with a meticulous attention to detail
  • \tcreative flair
  • \tfinancial awareness

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable pastry chef with good commercial bakerypastry experience and a "can do" attitude to work.

Capable of working in a small, hands-on team, delivering a high standard product; in touch with responsible food provenance and industry trends.


Salary:
£14 - £16 per hour, depending on experience

The cafe opens at 8:00am with an all-day menu running until 3:00pm. Pastry Chef shifts will be daytime hours only. There is a night baker, who is responsible for most of the bread production.
