Treasurer role

This is a voluntary role, which offers the opportunity to play an important and meaningful role within a unique and fascinating Guild. The Guild has over 70 members who are all selected based on the quality of their work and their commitment to joining and contributing to the vibrant community that is the Guild. The main trading activity is based in a beautiful shop in Montpellier, Cheltenham. This displays and sells members' work on an agent basis.

The main purpose of this role is to take overall strategic and operational responsibility for the finances of both the Guild charity and the trading limited company. The treasurer ensures sound financial management in line with the aims and constitution of both and will include setting and monitoring budgets

The main operational tasks are to ensure the monthly payment to members for goods sold in the shop, and to process invoices and receipts. This averages out at between two and four days per month, but this can be variable. As such it suits someone with flexibility in their other commitments.

The Guild has grown over the last few years and there are exciting opportunities ahead.

The treasurer will be supported by an excellent bookkeeper and accountant who will maintain accurate records and prepare the annual accounts.

An ideal person for this role will bring experience with strategic financial management, in a business or charity environment.
