Specialist SEND Teacher Service Manager

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced manager to lead the Specialist Teacher Team and to take on a leadership role across the School Effectiveness Team which comprises a team of School Improvement partners, the Early Education and Childcare team and the School Attendance Support Service.

You will have strategic and operational lead of the Specialist Teaching Team which will be deployed within schools to support, develop and challenge SEND practice.

    What will you be doing?

    You will work with the strategic lead of the service to drive the development and implementation of the strategic vision of the Specialist teaching team and maintain oversight of the School Effectiveness workstreams.

    You will monitor the operational delivery of the Specialist teaching team, developing impact measures, and leading CPD linked to SEND practice. Clear collaborative working with services and partners is essential and the ability to foster positive working relationships is key to the successful deployment of the Specialist Teaching team.
    About you

    You will have been a headteacher and or had experience of leading a team within a local Authority. You must have experience of working with CYP and in supporting children with a range of SEND needs.

    You will need to have extensive knowledge and experience of working with primary and/or secondary aged pupils providing advice and guidance to senior leaders within schools and of promoting a culture of inclusion.

    You will be inspirational and have the ability to work both independently and jointly with other professionals. You must have the confidence and experience of challenging schools and settings where required.

    A proactive approach to research and developing yourself through CPD is essential as is a strong knowledge of best practice and developments in SEND and AP. The ability to work autonomously to prioritise work and meet deadlines is key.
