We're looking for a Senior Estate Manager to support our ambitious land acquisition programme. You will lead several significant negotiations and be based within a small team dedicated to this work. You will provide technical advice and support for all types of acquisitions to our 17 Let Estate Operations Teams that work across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
There will be extensive national travel required for this role. Your contractual location will be Heelis. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We'll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40–60% of your working week.
What it's like to work here
Reporting to the Regional Head of Let Estate, Acquisitions, you will be part of an extended team of surveying professionals. The role offers you an interesting variety of acquisition and negotiation work in amazing locations. In addition you'll be offering advice to colleagues across the organisation and enabling the alignment of our acquisition principles with our new 10 year strategy.
One of the Trust's biggest priorities is to create a healthy and resilient, natural environment for people and nature. Our acquisition programme is to support this, and you'll play a key part in helping to make this happen; shaping the future of the UK's biggest private landowning charity and the properties we own and protect.
What you'll be doing
Working across the Trust's national portfolio you will have significant input into a range of acquisitions. You will help to shape national policy as well as support with identifying mechanisms for new funding. In addition it is expected that you will lead on complex tenancy negotiations and use your existing industry network to support a proactive approach to acquiring land and further partnership arrangements to enable purchase or management of land by others.
As well as your immediate team, you'll have support to help you from our property leadership teams, countryside specialists, regional and national specialists. You will be helping to make a real and lasting difference to the long-term environmental sustainability of our land, and the Trust's cause: looking after special places for everyone, for ever.
Who we're looking for
a qualified Rural Practice Chartered Surveyor and Registered Valuerproven experience in spotting opportunities or creative solutionsfirst class technical knowledge of agricultural tenancies as well as broader land managementexcellent negotiation skills with the ability to adapt your negotiating style depending on the situationthe ability to foster a strong relationship with stakeholders, providing professional business partnering and the ability to engage with a variety of audiencesa high level of financial acumen strong project management skills, including experience of managing large projects
