The project:

Are you passionate about exploring the depths of operations and supply chain management through research? Do you want to join a cutting-edge interdisciplinary research centre at a world-class institution?

We invite you to apply for a PhD studentship project hosted by the University of Bristol Business School in collaboration with the Innovation Knowledge Centre on Semiconductor Technology (REWIRE), a newly established £11 million research centre driving the UK towards net-zero goals by innovating in semiconductor technology.

This studentship focuses on leading-edge data analytics for semiconductor supply chains. The project aims to establish robust monitoring frameworks and facilitate ongoing dialogue among suppliers, manufacturers, and policymakers, promoting a cohesive and adaptive strategy to supply chain disruptions.

Focusing on the semiconductor sector, the doctoral project will apply empirical methods to evaluate the influence of various supply chain risk management strategies on firms' operational performance and supply chain resilience. It will also examine the impact of international trade policies and regulations on these practices.

The approach includes statistical analysis and econometric modelling of panel data across firm and supply chain levels to pursue the research objectives. This entails gathering and analysing data from various sources, including established databases, satellite imagery, and web scraping, requiring advanced data manipulation and programming expertise. Additionally, the selected individual will engage in the research with REWIRE industrial partners and the engineering academic team.
