Role Description

The purpose of this role is to work closely with the relevant business area to provide guidance, analysis and insight on financial matters, providing both recommendations and challenge. Through building relationships and influencing stakeholders, and leading the team (where applicable), the Senior Financial Analyst provides financial support to facilitate the achievement of the business goals.

Key Accountabilities

  • Subject matter expert on market position/assessment, conduct research and analysis to inform business decision-making and be able to translate how this impacts future opportunities
  • Identify Allianz Holding's strengths and weaknesses, risks and opportunities as well as growth and improvements through working with Finance and non-Finance teams
  • Provide business insight through competitor and market analysis, including review of competitor results, market development and legislative changes
  • Improve business insight through the collation of data across the organisation and link the data through to companies plan and strategy
  • Support the wider FP&A team on the delivery of Plan, Reporting and Forecasting cycles
  • Provision of financial management expertise, analysis and insight to inform and contribute to decision-making within the business channel/segment/function
  • Identify variances, ensuring these are investigated, and work with the business on mitigating actions
  • Support in the coordination and production of the annual Planning cycle and regular forecasting
  • Support the wider FP&A with Group requests, analysis and consolidation support across Allianz UK Group
  • Appraise and support new business opportunities and projects to ensure that all relevant financial considerations are made and appropriate controls are in place
  • Ensure all reporting and accounting is carried out to the required standards and quality, and to the agreed timescales
  • Influence business decision-making through engagement with key stakeholders
  • Oversee the day to day activities of the Finance Analysts

Technical Skills

  • Up-to-date insurance accounting and reporting knowledge
  • Ability to apply management accounting and financial management techniques to inform business decision-making
  • Basic understanding of underwriting and technical disciplines, and their application within the business
  • Strong analysis skills including good knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Qualifications

  • Maths, Science or Finance-related degree preferred
  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA)

Experience

  • Post-qualification experience of working in finance within the insurance industry.
  • Proven ability to influence business stakeholders.
