The role: We are currently looking for an experienced Project Planner / Scheduler to join our growing team based in Portchester.

Reporting to the Programme Manager, the Project Planner will provide expertise to support a robust project schedule, together with supporting Project Managers to align other new projects and existing projects across the portfolio.

This is a fast paced and hands on project role where no two days are the same You will need to have a solid background in planning, scheduling and project control with an appreciation of the complex nature surrounding engineering project delivery.

Role responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Constructing robust, structured MS Project plans in conjunction with Project Managers and Control Account Managers, monitoring and maintaining on a regular weekly cycle.
  • Ensure all plans contain robust cost information including labour requirements and material costs.
  • Working with the Project Managers & Control Account Managers to regularly obtain estimate to completion data and reflecting this data within the relevant plans/schedules.
  • Generating a consistent approach to project planning across the project portfolio with implementation of common templates and formats.
  • Working with the Projects team, implementing and managing a baseline control process across all projects and ensuring all schedules are updated to reflect approved baseline changes.
  • Collecting, correlating and evaluating project progress data to ensure project progress can be measured against the project schedule.
  • Summarising and communicating key schedule output and KPIs to the relevant Project Manager including movement to key activities / milestones, critical path, schedule and cost risk.
  • Developing and reporting trend analysis against key programme metrics.
  • Working with all key stakeholders and utilising individual project schedules to create a Master Schedule providing a top-level view of key events, project interdependencies and resource demands.
  • Supporting the team with a drive to improve project forecasting accuracy.

Essential Skills / Qualifications / Experience:

  • Good all-round knowledge of Excel and MS Project.
  • Significant relatable experience in a project planning role.
  • Demonstratable knowledge and experience of robust project planning techniques, approaches
  • and processes.
  • Strong people management, communication and organisational skills demonstrable within a project planning / delivery scenario.
  • Critical thinker.
  • Adaptable approach to work.
  • Highly motivated.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications / Experience:

  • Formally accredited Project Management qualification e.g. APM/Prince 2/PMI or equivalent.
  • Experience as a planner/scheduler within the marine engineering discipline.
  • Previous experience of setting up and maintaining an integrated master schedule encompassing multiple related projects.
  • Use of Jira within a project environment.
