As the Research Fellow in Triboelectrification, you will lead the delivery of planned activity aligned with a cutting-edge EPSRC research project 'triboelectrification' focused on better understanding the mechanisms and applications of triboelectricity. Responsibilities include designing and conducting experiments, analysing data, and developing innovative materials solutions for energy harvesting, sensors, and electronic devices. The role involves collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, publishing research findings in high-impact journals, and presenting at conferences. The fellow is also expected to actively pursue independent research and fellowship

Strong knowledge of triboelectrification, engineering design, engineering materials, and materials testing is essential. The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills, a proactive research approach, and the ability to secure research funding through grant proposals. Effective communication and project management skills are also required.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include contributing to research delivery, developing research objectives and proposals, writing funding bids, analysing and interpreting data, and disseminating findings. Additional tasks involve supervising students, developing new models and techniques, managing research-related administration, engaging in departmental activities, and collecting research data. The role also includes presenting research outputs, providing guidance to staff and students, solving research problems, and promoting equality and diversity in the workplace.

Skills and Knowledge

Candidates require a PhD in tribology and triboelectric nanogenerators, high-level analytical skills, and fluency in relevant techniques. Effective communication, resource assessment, and management abilities are essential. Knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 and commitment to promoting equality and fairness are also required. Coordination and planning skills are vital.

Qualifications and Experience

Requirements include a first degree and typically a higher degree in the relevant area, with a PhD in tribology and triboelectric nanogenerators preferred. Must have high-level analytical capability, clear communication skills, fluency in relevant techniques, and resource assessment ability. Candidates should contribute to management processes, research planning, and coordination, ensuring no duplication of effort. Knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 and promoting equality and fairness is essential.
