We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications Assistant to join the Rhodes Trust. This role will play a key role within a small team at Rhodes House, providing administrative support to the Communications team and working across digital and print communications.
We are looking for the successful candidate to start with us as soon as possible.

The role
The successful candidate will be a creative thinker, possessing a mix of writing and people skills, and will gain first-hand knowledge and experience working as an in-house communications professional for a highly regarded educational charity.
The role will be responsible for;
- Working with the Communications team on all communications activities of the Rhodes Trust by expressing the purpose and vision of the Rhodes Scholarships and the Trust s partnerships clearly, professionally and innovatively.
- Promoting the Rhodes Trust values of leadership excellence, global progress, lifelong fellowship, Rhodes community and philanthropic giving in print and digital communications.
ADMINISTRATION
- Provide administrative support to the communications team: manage central inboxes, organise mailing lists, and maintain contact records on Salesforce CRM. Work with team to create mass emails for key moments in communications calendar.
SOCIAL MEDIA
Create content to support social media activity at key points in the year, including outreach to potential applicants, Scholar selection campaign, and covering annual conferences and events.
COMMUNITY EVENTS
- Manage events registrations, promote on social, web and external sites, attend occasional events and help to create a welcoming environment for visitors.
MULTI MEDIA
- Write both short and long form content for social media, blog, news stories and emails. Participate in peer review and proof reading of others content.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, experience and qualifications:
- A proactive team-player with a positive approach to new challenges. Receptive to new information and able adapt effectively to changing situations.
- Responsible, reliable, and consistently delivers accurate work.
- Excellent written communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
- A creative eye and an interest in new and cutting-edge social media content / trends.
- Proven ability to plan, organise, and prioritise work, sometimes under pressure and within tight deadlines.
- A confident and professional manner when dealing with internal clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to keep information confidential.
- Proficiency in using the following tools or similar (training can be provided): Canva, Content Management Systems, Social media analytics and advertising platforms, Hootsuite Pro, Microsoft Office, Customer Relationship Management System e.g. Salesforce.
- An interest in the educational and charity sector.
- Confidence working in a global arena.
- Willingness and enthusiasm to attend occasional events.
- A deep commitment to the values, ethos and mission of the Rhodes Trust.
