Solicitor - Property, Planning and Contracts in Cardiff

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated solicitor to work within our busy Property, Planning and Contracts Team. The role will involve advising on property, and planning issues including delivering an excellent and trusted service to the Council's Planning Section and Planning Committee. The role provides an opportunity to work with experienced officers in the Legal Team.

Mentoring and support will be given, to the right candidate, to explore and work towards accreditation through the Royal Town Planning Institute as a legal associate.

The Legal Team works in a hybrid working environment with home working. There will also be an expectation that time will be spent in the Council's modern office, designed for hybrid working, to meet the demands of the role.

Qualifications / Experience

Essential:

  • A qualified solicitor holding a valid practising certificate.
  • Good knowledge of the relevant areas of law.
  • Experience in the use of ICT systems including Microsoft Office applications, Teams and case management systems.
  • Experience of working with clients to build relationships of trust and alliance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills together with excellent drafting skills.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Local Government law and environment.
