Amble, Northumberland, United Kingdom James Calvert Spence College Full time

We are looking for a Headteacher who will build upon our current strengths and seize every opportunity presented by the exciting changes we're going through. We're looking for the person who will take our school from good to outstanding. Our new headteacher needs a breadth of knowledge around school leadership and understands the value of positive relationships. We need a visible and confident leader – someone who can inspire, motivate and instil confidence in staff, pupils and our wider community.

What is special about James Calvert Spence College:

We are a maintained school within Northumberland County Council. Just 30 miles from Newcastle city centre on traffic-free roads, James Calvert Spence College is situated in the seaside town of Amble, within the Northumberland Coast area of outstanding natural beauty. You have the opportunity to work in one of the most picturesque localities in the UK, from Amble itself with its bustling harbour, to Warkworth's historic village and castle and the country park, dunes and nature reserves of Druridge Bay. All of this is in addition to miles of uncrowded sandy beaches, more castles than any other county in England, and an industrial heritage that built Britain and of which our people are rightly proud. We offer staff many perks of the job. Staff are provided with a laptop with five licences of the full Microsoft Office suite that can be installed on multiple PCs, Macs or iPads at home. All staff can opt into flexible benefits such as tax-free childcare vouchers or bicycles on the Cycle to Work scheme. With approximately 750 pupils on roll, we are a relatively small school but what we lack in size we make up for in other ways. We have a friendly staff body who all know and care about the children, as well as supporting each other. We also have a vibrant staff social committee

What skills and experience we're looking for:

• Are you kind? Do you expect kindness from others, regardless of who they are?
• Do you work hard? Do you expect others to perform to the best of their ability, and give them the support they need to do so?
• Do you aim high? Do you have high expectations of others? Can you support colleagues and pupils to aim high with achievable, motivating targets?
• Do you have a calm approach and the ability to make the right call in high-pressure situations?
• Can you build effective working relationships with staff, children and parents? Are you an effective communicator?
• Do you have a 'can do' attitude? Can you bring people on board?

What the school offers its staff:

• The opportunity to work in a 'good' school surrounded by a passionate and highly skilled leadership team
• A supportive work environment with a family feel
• The challenge to bring our school to outstanding, and the support you'll need to do this This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to make a difference. If you share our ethos of 'Be kind, work hard and aim high,' and feel that this role aligns with your strengths, we would love to hear from you.
