Leeds Arts University is the only specialist arts university in the North of England. We have contributed significantly to the development of arts education for over 170 years, and have developed a national and international reputation based on the achievements of our students and staff.

We are seeking an exceptional health and safety, and risk management specialist who will enjoy working in a creative education environment where experimentation and innovation are championed and encouraged. You will be adaptable and enjoy engaging with colleagues and students to facilitate this, ensuring activities are carried out in a manner where they do not pose a risk to students/staff or any other persons including members of the public.

You will lead on the provision of health, safety and risk management, ensuring the University meets its obligations in relation to legislative compliance. Responsible for writing/updating policies, risk assessments, and reports, you will also carry out audits and report to/advise committees and stakeholders on health, safety and risk issues. There will be line management responsibilities for the Risk and Safety Support Officer.

With a NEBOSH Certificate and educated to degree level, you will have up to date knowledge and understanding of current legislation and of implementing & monitoring health, risk and safety compliance. Communication skills are important as this is a front facing role and you will need to build excellent working relationships internally and externally. Previous experience of working in a university environment and an understanding of creative arts are desirable.
