The Local Academy Council is seeking to appoint an inspirational and innovative leader of EYFS who puts children at the heart of their vision by promoting a strong culture of high expectation, respect, and personal growth.

John Wheeldon is a large school serving pupils from the age of 4 to 11 years.

It is one of the twenty-one academies that are part of the Staffordshire University Academies Trust (SUAT). As part of Staffordshire University Academies Trust, the school benefits from the wider opportunities of collaboration, training and development and shares expertise in high-quality teaching and learning.

We are seeking to appoint an excellent Reception class teacher who will lead our Early Years team and be part of the school's leadership team. You must share the school's vision for continual and sustained improvement and help to build and develop the school's successes. The school is at the heart of the local community therefore the successful candidate must be able to promote the positive and caring ethos of the school and be able to effectively engage and collaborate with all stakeholders.

We are looking for a person who is;

  • An outstanding child centred Early Years teacher with high expectations of pupil's behaviour and attainment.
  • A committed teacher with the vision, passion and drive to provide the very best care and education for our pupils.
  • Able to lead a team through monitoring, coaching and mentoring.
  • Able to manage and monitor planning and assessment effectively in order to raise standards.
  • Inspirational and able to challenge and motivate both staff and pupils.
  • An excellent communicator.
  • Able to work effectively as a member of the Leadership Team.
  • Willing to be fully involved in the life of the school.
  • Able to work alongside the curriculum leader and subject leaders within school to strengthen subject progression building on foundational knowledge and skills.
  • Able to oversee transition from EYFS to Year 1 to ensure children are ready for the Year 1 curriculum.
