How will you make an Impact?

In line with the strategic objectives of the EMEA Material Science Commercial Organization, this role is to demonstrate technical and commercial advantages of Thermo Scientific Surface Analysis systems, with XPS being the core technology, complemented by adjacent technologies like Electron Loss Spectroscopy, Raman Spectroscopy, Ion Scattering Spectroscopy, Energy-Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy, and others. In many instances this task is part of a team effort to promote sophisticated workflow solutions that may contain XPS, SEM, FIB-SEM and TEM. While demonstrating live measurements on our systems in primarily the job of our applications team, hands-on training will enable you to operate our systems independently.

In the Sales and Service organization, we listen to customer needs, understand, and develop the market, leverage technical understanding and product knowledge to converge on successful sales strategy, develop presentations to support plans, reply to tenders, direct applicable product solutions and develop effective strategies for closing opportunities.

Using your technical knowledge and excellent social skills you can reliably engage prospects and be a consistent point of technical information on the product portfolio represented. Working the entire sales cycle from lead to closure, this role will work with many aspects to make business successful, including NanoPort colleagues (our demonstration facilities), Account Managers, and Product Leaders in Marketing.

As an XPS professional, you will deliver on a product quota, help drive the regional tactics and support the territory development plans for academia and industry.

As the primary technical contact for account managers, you will be the face of the Thermo Scientific brand for customers and channel partners in many situations including technical explanations, distilling customer needs to internal team members that develop solutions, supporting specific external supplier/partner proposals and observing, reporting and reacting to market trends.

In this role, you will continue to build and support relationships with key opinion leaders through the delivery of seminars, workshops and product training and support key regional marketing events.

The role will be an anchor point from product to field, being a key component of the customer feedback loop to support key application development.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • Typically requires an M.Sc. degree or higher in Materials Science, Chemistry and or Physics.
  • Fluent in English and French both written and speaking is required.
  • Arab would be useful, however is not a must.
Experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with XPS (X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy) is a must.
  • Experience with other high-end analytical equipment (like SEM, TEM, EDS, EBSD, CL, Raman, related material science and/or industry specific techniques) will be useful.
  • Experience working with and managing multiple projects and teams simultaneously across a matrixed organization
  • Previous client-facing commercial experience is desirable.
