The BBC Flexi Job Apprentice Agency (FJAA) is offering an exciting opportunity to be a Level 4 Production Coordinator Apprentice working within the production management team at Shine TV's new Birmingham studios on Celebrity MasterChef, MasterChef: The Professionals, and MasterChef.

This Production Coordinator apprenticeship helps you gain experience in the exciting world of TV production. You will learn from leading television production coordinators about how to plan, deal with the unexpected, multi-task, work calmly under pressure and effectively play your part in excellent teamwork. You'll learn on-the-job as part of the Shine TV's MasterChef production coordination team, developing your knowledge and skills while working towards your apprenticeship qualification with our learning provider Bauer Academy.

MasterChef is the BBC's long running cookery competition format which celebrates the diversity of food cooked in the UK. At MasterChef, you will learn from leading television professionals both in the studio and out on location. You'll develop an understanding of what goes into making broadcast television and the creative stages that occur throughout the process.

This is an exciting first step into the production management side of programme making, giving the tools for future careers in fields such as Production Secretary, Production Coordinator and Production Manager.

Through the BBC's Flexi-Job Apprenticeship Agency, you will be hired by the BBC and following initial training from November, you will be placed with MasterChef from 6 January 2025 for the remainder of your apprenticeship. The BBC will work with Shine TV and Bauer Academy to oversee your successful completion on the apprenticeship.

An apprenticeship requires full commitment and discipline from the learner. Alongside experiences and training, there is an expectation of wider self-learning and the requirement to meet learning objectives and deadlines, as outlined by the apprentice standards. Apprentices must show the BBC and Shine TV that they are dedicated to accomplishing the knowledge, skills and behaviour requirements outlined in their apprenticeship learning plan.

THE ROLE

What will you be doing?

As a Production Coordinator apprentice, you'll work as part of the Shine TV MasterChef production coordination team, who take creative ideas and logistically make them happen.

• You'll find yourself working on all MasterChef series, making sure everyone has everything they need.

• You may be preparing for shoots, coordinating transport, booking kit and crews, issuing call sheets, managing budgets, and helping in the studio or on location.

• You'll need exceptional organisational skills, keeping coherent logs to keep track of areas such as costs, hotels & travel which is a vital tool for the Production Coordinator route.

• You'll be willing to get involved in all aspects of day-to-day tasks in studio & locations, including set up, clear down, laundry & ensuring crew and talent refreshments are stocked up and made as requested.

We'll also give you BBC Academy training, delivered by experienced trainers. You'll learn a range of skills that will help you be a key part of the production management team.

And you'll study for your industry recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on and off the job.

Where could the role take you?

This scheme starts Friday 8 November 2024 and runs up to Friday 15 May 2026. After the scheme, you'll be able to apply for entry level roles as a Production Management Assistant or Production Coordinator across the industry.
