Our Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) Data Centre team is well established and partners with some of the largest and leading Data Centre providers and users across the globe, ranging from Europe, Africa, Asia and the UK. We have offices and teams in The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, the UK and South Africa.

As Senior Electrical Engineer you must prove yourself to some of the most demanding customers in the world and work pro-actively with our colleagues across the globe. Beyond the standard features of a building, our MCF projects require specific and advanced knowledge and skills. What our clients have in common, is the need for a proactive Mechanical Engineer. As a Senior Electrical Engineer. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing electrical systems for Data Centre projects. Project responsibility will vary from defining the client's design brief to inspection/auditing, specification, design, and management of electrical building services. The candidate should be able to demonstrate flexibility, dynamism, and the ability to assist in the development of our growing team.

Your main responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Preparation of electrical documents, schedules & calculations to RIBA 4 to support the electrical design of a data centre, typically:
  • Load calculations
  • MV & LV Cable calculations
  • Earthing calculations
  • Battery calculations
  • Lighting calculations
  • Lightning Protection Risk Assessment
  • MV & LV cable schedules
  • Lighting schedules
  • Writing of technical specifications
• As a minimum be able to review and error find for the following calculations. Ideally be able to perform these calculations using software (e.g. ETAP)
  • Short circuit calculations
  • Protection coordination study
  • Arc flash study
  • Neher-McGrath study
  • Harmonics study
• Fundamental understanding and working knowledge of technical disciplines and the relevant current and draft standards and codes of practice including statutory legislation (e.g. CDM).
• Required to work with international or foreign national standards including developing a sound understanding to enable implementation (e.g. EN, ISO, NFPA, NEC or similar).
• Undertake inspections and production of condition survey reports, feasibility studies and concept definition reports.
• Assist in project control and site supervision as required.
• Plan, organise and manage work packages or projects.
• Comply with company's standards and Quality Management System.
• Ensure that all projects are undertaken in full accordance with corporate QMS procedures, and that financial monitoring and control measures are implemented accordingly.
• Attend progress, design team & co-ordination meetings, representing the practice in a professional and ethical manner, taking the lead role where necessary.
• Handling queries and giving sound advice both internally and to our clients
• Undertaking assignments effectively to achieve technically sound, timely and cost-effective results.
• Contribute to the production of fee proposals and pre-qualification documents, particularly in relation to electrical design content.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team where your work will be cross borders, native and home based. In addition to participating in projects, you naturally also contribute to the optimization of our internal business processes and to safeguarding and sharing knowledge within your field. You are an entrepreneurial, result oriented, proactive individual with a positive flexible and problem-solving attitude. Besides that, you have:

• Ability to perform best in a multidisciplinary team often with international colleagues.
• Good command of the English language.
• BEng (Hons) or MEng in Mechanical/Building Services Engineering
• Achieved or capable of achieving Chartered Status (correct academic status or years served)
• Comprehensive post education experience
• Knowledge and practical experience of:
