Description

We are looking for a Research Analyst/Economist, to work in a close-knit group of analysts in charge of meeting the needs of our clients in the global oilseeds sector.

The role involves undertaking detailed economic, quantitative, market analysis and research assignments. These include forecasting supply and demand, price outlook, policy analysis, performance/cost of production benchmarking as well as carrying out bespoke consulting projects for our clients. Examples of these projects include feasibility studies, price outlooks in specific markets or market segments, and policy analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

Carrying out analysis and forecasts underpinning the services of the oilseeds research team.

Tracking and forecasting oils and oilseeds supply, demand, price and policy developments in the oils sector in key geographies.

Assisting in maintaining and organising the database underpinning the analysis we undertake.

Contributing to consulting projects led by the Director of Oils, Oils and Special Projects Research or a Senior Analyst.

Developing a detailed knowledge of the oilseeds and oils industry that is required to offer expertise to our clients.

Liaise with industry stakeholders (grower associations, producers, consumers, policy makers etc.); the role may involve occasional research trips.

For this role, we are looking for someone who is has or can demonstrate a desire to acquire a detailed knowledge of the oilseeds and oils sector. The successful candidate will be able to formulate in rigorous economic terms but simple language, ideas about the economic forces, including the policies, market trends and structural changes shaping the sector.

Applicants with a background in economics or relevant subject would be preferred, but this is not essential for the right candidate.
