We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in hypoxia liver signalling to join Professor Jane McKeating at the Target Discovery Institute, Nuffield Department of Medicine at the University of Oxford.

You will be responsible for managing your own academic research and administrative activities, and keeping records of all experimental results. You will test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate. You will contribute ideas for new research projects and develop ideas for generating research income and to co-ordinate work to meet deadlines, to support the project goals. Present data and ideas at laboratory group meetings, represent the research group at external meetings/seminars, prepare reports and publications for the successful performance and dissemination of the research and supervise junior lab members providing advice as appropriate are also among the responsibilities of this position.

It is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil (or be close to completion) in hypoxia, virology or cancer biology or a related subject area. You will have advanced proficiency to analyse bulk and scRNA-Seq data sets with associated analytical and statistical skills. You will be able to develop of new analytical methods and to demonstrate their utility in biomedical research. A track record of producing high-quality data leading to peer-reviewed publications, the evidence of scientific creativity, and an ability to contribute to determining future directions for the research project is also essential.
