Grounds Person

Shrewsbury School is set in approximately 110 acres of beautiful grounds overlooking the River Severn. There are 10 grass pitches which cater for the school's highly competitive sports teams and our Grounds team is responsible for maintaining the pitches to a very high standard.
We are now recruiting a further Grounds Person into this team to help and support the very highest standard in maintaining our playing fields and grounds.
Ideally, the successful candidate will:
Possess a good standard of education, ideally with a sports turf qualification or a willingness to work towards one.Be familiar with using grounds maintenance equipment.Have a driving licence.Have a flexible approach and must be willing to work overtime on a rota basis.Be capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions and able to cope with physically demanding work. A spraying certificate (NPTC PA1, PA6 or PA2) would be desirable. Experience of working in a similar role would be an advantage. Sports turf related experience is desirable, but not essential. This is a full-time position working 39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday from 8.00am to 4.30pm, and Friday from 8.00am to 3.30pm, with a half an hour lunch break. The successful candidate will also be required to work some evenings and weekends on a rota basis, which is paid as overtime. BenefitsWe offer a competitive salary of up to £24,150.00 per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications, and in addition we offer generous benefits including enhanced holiday entitlement, pension, life insurance, school lunch when the kitchens are operational, free car parking, free use of school facilities when not in use by pupils (library, swimming pool, gym, tennis courts, squash courts) and access to a cycle to work scheme.
