They are currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to work on a full-time and permanent basis. The Assistant Accountant will support the finance department by managing daily accounting tasks. The role is crucial for the accurate maintenance of financial records and the smooth operation of all accounting activities.The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail.
Your new job as the Assistant Accountant:
Data Entry and Record Keeping:
Enter financial transactions into internal databases
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions
Assist in the preparation and maintenance of ledgers and journals
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Process invoices and follow up with suppliers as needed
Ensure timely payments to suppliers and resolve discrepancies
Daily chasing of overdue debt and issuing statements
Bank Reconciliations:
Perform bank reconciliations on a regular basis
Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between bank statements and internal records
Financial Reporting:
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports
Provide support in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting principles
Audit Support:
Assist in preparing documentation for external and internal audits
Provide necessary support during audit processes
Payroll:
Responsible for the full end to end payroll process for both companies
Maintenance of the time & attendance system
General Accounting Support:
Support the Financial Controller with general accounting tasks
Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes
Other Duties:
Respond to accounting enquiries from management in a timely manner
Perform other related duties as required
Experience and Skills required to apply:
1-2 years minimum of experience in an accounting role preferred
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle)
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (e.g., VLOOKUPs, pivot tables)
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Salary and Reward on offer:
A salary of up to £35,000
Pension
Annual leave of 31 days including Bank holidays (this increases to 32 days after 1 year, and 33 days after 2 years)
