An exciting opportunity has arisen for an In-house Counsel in the public sector, based in Sheffield. This is a funds role for lawyers experienced in FS.

Client Details

Our client is a government-owned economic development bank who design, deliver and manage finance programmes to support smaller businesses, facilitating their development and contributing to the transition towards a net zero economy. The business act as an institutional investor in a range of venture and growth equity funds and small and mid-cap credit funds.

They operate over a couple of sites across the UK and are currently at approx. 550 employees.

They are seeking a talented In-house Counsel to assist their in house function from Sheffield on Funds on a hybrid basis.

Description

As In-house Counsel your responsibilities will be:

  • Providing legal support to a number of product areas, covering a broad range of funds transactions including private closed ended debt funds and venture capital funds, funds-of-funds, listed funds and non-regulated investment vehicles funded by private and public sources of finance.
  • Advising on financial regulation
  • Providing general commercial advice in an in-house FS context
  • Managing external counsel.

Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 4+ years PQE
  • In-house financial services experience advising on managing funds transactions.
  • Experience working in a central government or public sector body would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of a range of products in funds space.
  • Experience of acting for institutional investors.
  • Knowledge of state aid, public law, freedom of information, data protection, judicial review, procurement law would also be advantageous.
  • General commercial legal skills.
