Position Summary

This is your chance to be part of an in-house Legal team at a top global hospitality company As a Paralegal, you will support the team in guiding Hilton's legal activities to ensure maximum protection while engaging in global business and ensuring compliance with our legal obligations. On the EMEA Legal team, reporting to Senior Counsel - Operations EMEA, you will work with the Operations function to provide effective contentious and non-contentious legal support to business partners, regional offices, and to hotels across the EMEA region. You will also work with the Development team, assisting with management and franchise agreements for new hotel projects and provide support on amendments, variations and other issues relating to any such agreements once signed. Finally, you will work on matters relating to Hilton's real estate portfolio.

What will I be doing?

Your role is important and below are some of the fundamental job duties that make your work unique.

What your day-to-day will be like:

Providing appropriate and timely advice which is consistent with company policies, procedures and past practices. Drafting, reviewing and revising various contracts (including agreements for hotels and for certain corporate departments such as Commercial Services, Supply Management, HR, Finance and Engineering Operations). Supporting the Safety & Security team with various legal matters including crisis management. Supporting the EMEA F&B team with NDA's, franchise, licence, third party and outsourcing agreements. Assisting in establishing, maintaining and distributing a library of precedent documents. Assisting in implementing additional self-service programs and legal guidance for business partners. Assisting with hotel-level leasing and concession agreements. Providing support on management and franchise agreements for new hotel projects, including drafting new agreements (using templates), reviewing local law reports, liaising with internal business partners and outside counsel and handling signing and post-completion requirements. Drafting amendments to existing management and franchise agreements and other ancillary documents.
How you will collaborate with others:
The EMEA Legal team currently has 10 lawyers and 5 paralegals with whom you will work. The group works closely on all issues relating to Hilton's legal needs across the region. You would work closely with the other members of the EMEA Legal team, including attending regular internal meetings to review issues and workflow. You will also work with business partners across all the corporate functions and at our hotels. This will include attending business partner meetings relevant to work assignments and assisting in the preparation and delivery of training. You will develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with internal business partners and outside counsel. You will engage outside counsel resources and liaise with outside counsel (as and when appropriate), conducting effective management of outside counsel of varying levels across numerous regions in accordance with established budgets and engagement policies.
What projects you will take ownership of:
You will work with the Operations team to support on-going and new projects (Including time critical matters and implementation of new legislation) across the business functions and EMEA region. You will work with individual lawyers on the team to progress management and franchise deals for new hotels including drafting new agreements (using templates), reviewing local law reports, liaising with internal business partners and outside counsel and handling signing and post-requirements.Requirements
What are we looking for?

To fulfill this role successfully, you must possess the following minimum qualifications and experience:

At least one of the following:

Law degree from a 'common law' jurisdiction (or equivalent professional training);

Completion of the Legal Practice Course or Bar Vocational Course (or equivalent professional training)

Experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department as a paralegal (or equivalent position)

Commercial law experience, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and

understanding of corporate structures

Strong IT skills and numerically literate Proficient in carrying out legal research Ability to travel when required to do so (up to 5%)
It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
Either of the first two qualifications detailed above (or equivalent) AND experience in a law firm and / or in-house legal department Understanding of hotel sector and hotel operations.
