Alecto recruitment are currently recruiting for a Workshop based Heavy Plant Engineer on behalf of our client, a leading provider of construction and engineering services, specializing in heavy plant machinery.

As a Heavy Plant Engineer you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing a wide range of heavy plant machinery, including diggers, dump trucks, excavators, rollers, and wheel loaders. Your role is crucial in ensuring that the equipment is in optimal working condition, contributing to the efficiency and success of projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of heavy plant machinery, including diggers, dump trucks, excavators, rollers, and wheel loaders.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults and implement effective solutions.
  • Conduct pre-delivery inspections and ensure all equipment is ready for deployment to project sites.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work, including parts used and time spent.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to prioritize and schedule maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop, ensuring all tools and equipment are in good working order.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry standards and advancements in heavy plant machinery

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Heavy Plant Engineer or similar role in the construction or engineering industry.
  • Experience on JCB machinery or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in heavy plant machinery.
  • Relevant technical certification or qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong commitment to safety and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to handle the demands of the job.
  • Level 2/3 Qualified in Heavy Plant
