The Role

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the post holder will manage own specialist caseload, using evidence based practice and client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in both hospital and community settings.

Provide specialist advice to Occupational Therapy staff and other disciplines / agencies.

The post holder is expected to develop specialist clinical skills and may lead clinical audit and undertake research.

Duties may vary depending on the care group / department / assigned area of work or level of experience.

What we'll need you to bringRegistered Occupational Therapist with valid HCPC RegistrationEducated to/working towards/operating at Degree LevelPost graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently. Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.Leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery.Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualificationThe post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiativeExcellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.Effective time management skillsWorking knowledge of basic information technologyIt would be great if you also havePractice education training and experience within the specific care group/specialityEvidence of audit, critical appraisal, reflective practice and/or research skillsSound knowledge of multi disciplinary and inter agency team working practicesCar driver with a full UK/EU/EEA valid driving licence.Contract type Fixed Term or Secondment for 1 year Part Time 14.9 hours Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata. Please note this is a fixed term post until 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

NHS Lanarkshire will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer. If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Lanarkshire is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so.
