Quality Manager

This position is for a Quality Manager (QM) who will work a multi-year United Kingdom (UK) nuclear infrastructure program for which Bechtel are the Technical Partner (covering Project Management and Engineering services). This programme involves a multi-billion investment in nuclear and non-nuclear facilities.

The Quality Manager will be responsible for identifying, delivering and assuring the successful quality targets for this Project. The individual will work to assure that the program is delivered in compliance with the requirements identified within the Client's processes and procedures.

The Quality Manager will work with the Project team to maintain standards across the Project. This will be done by implementing a Quality Management System that is aligned to the Client's Quality Management System and ISO9001. This will include developing KPIs, dashboards, procedures, best practices, lessons learned and reporting systems / applications which align to the Client's policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the quality and assurance strategy and overall management of the quality process and the delivery of quality activities, translating strategy into operating procedures.
  • Provide compliance measurement of programme leadership with the governance processes, and continuous improvement of the governance provisions.
  • Responsible for the collation and escalation of assurance issues and concerns to the Project Manager and Bechtel Manager of Quality for Infrastructure GBU.
  • Develop and Lead the Audit Program and support client audits as necessary

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • 15+ years' experience in Quality Management across infrastructure programs of significant size and complexity, preferably within nuclear or highly regulated industry
  • Hands on experience of a ISO9001 or equivalent environment
  • An awareness of ISO44001 Collaborative Business Relationship Management standard
  • In-depth knowledge of designing and implementing quality management strategies and process improvement practices across large programmes and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to set up and implement quality management systems and processes in a fast-paced environment
  • Process driven with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills to manage and motivate teams in and outside of the Project to embed quality management values and culture
  • Experienced working in a JV / Integrated Project Team and the ability to deploy a best athlete approach to processes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including experience of delivering quality related training
  • Outstanding track record of quality management improvement and delivery
  • Excellent presentation and reporting skills.
  • Experience of auditing, reporting and implementation of subsequent corrective actions
  • Have an in-depth understanding of the design and delivery requirements of technically complex projects in the architectural / engineering / construction sectors.
  • Experience of dealing with a range of stakeholders at all levels across the organization influencing the improvement of process and guidance to support project delivery and reporting.
  • An understanding of Security Management arrangements would be an advantage

Note:

  • The role will be based primarily at Aldermaston, UK however travel to Bechtel's London office may also be required. Flexibility in work location includes three days per week working at the project site and two days working from home or the Bechtel office.
  • The position is open to United Kingdom (UK) Nationals only. Some UK dual citizens may be considered.
  • This position is also subject to a successful interview and agreement upon terms and conditions of employment. Candidate must be able to obtain an SC security clearance.
