MacTaggart Scott are looking to recruit a Deputy Head of Supply Chain, who will report directly to the Head of Supply Chain. This is an exciting role within a newly restructured department and would be ideally for anyone looking to put their stamp on it and help develop a team with the Head of Procurement.

Role:

The Deputy Head of Supply Chain (DHoSC) will support, and as required deputise, for the Head of Supply Chain, providing (under direction of the Head of Supply Chain (HoSC)) effective leadership and proactive management of the MTS procurement and supply chain function across its three workstreams (Central Procurement, Pre-Contract Support and Project Delivery).

The Procurement and Supply Chain function at MTS is undergoing a transformation, to ensure the function delivers optimal support to aid the company in achieving its business goals. As a growing company with an increasing order book, we are building an innovative, resilient and sustainable supply chain to support this.

The DHoSC will be required to support the HoSC in implementing and achieving this transformation, coordinating activities and workloads, ensuring projects are delivered on time, coaching and developing staff, building an efficient and secure supply chain, ensuring regulatory, technical and quality compliance, ultimately ensuring the function provides strategic sourcing solutions.

The DHoSC will be a self-starter with the ability to seek out improvements and support the team in their professional development.

The DHoSC will be required to hold excellent leadership, mentoring and management skills, and must be an effective communicator, with responsibility for line management of 3 workstream lead. The post holder will be required to support team members in task delivery as required, e.g. urgent business needs, staff shortages.

The post holder will also be responsible for successful delivery of Procurement specific Continual Improvement and Supplier Performance Management programmes and to support the HoSC in delivery of a Graduate Supply Chain Officer programme.

The key responsibilities of the role are:

Together with the HoSC, ensure workloads across the departments three workstreams are effectively managed and distributed, such that workloads are balanced, upcoming resource needs are known, highlighted and planned appropriately.Ensure that all procurement data is maintained on systems, including ERP, to support accurate supplier, contract and bid management and that the functions' procedures and documents are maintained.Support development, roll out and management of commodity management plans.Support (and lead where necessary) supplier due diligence processes, including on-boarding, audit and compliance.In agreement with the HoSC, define and implement a supplier management programme. Coordinate and manage effective delivery to ensure suppliers are managed appropriately for risk and resource.Help to grow and develop strategic supplier relationships.Manage and drive visibility of supplier performance metrics and management / improvement plans with relevant suppliers.Manage successful delivery of Continual Improvement initiatives, such as process efficiency and commodity management, to further enhance the capability and capacity of the department to meet its objectives.Support the HoSC in providing clear leadership and guidance to the function, coaching, training and mentoring staff as required to meet desired performance levels.Provide commodity knowledge and support to staff across a range of commodity areas, such as raw material sourcing, forgings, electrical, composite, hydraulic etc.Line management of appointed staff as required, including performance appraisal and objective management, as well as management of standard personnel matters (attendance, holidays, disciplinary issues etc.).Ensure contractual risk to MacTaggart Scott is minimized, including through management and negotiation of contract terms with suppliers, including use of Customer Flow Down requirements where necessary.Provide operational support to the Procurement and Supply Chain workstreams as required, such as bid support, purchase order placing, contract management and supplier management.Provide a route of issue escalation and resolution, for example providing expert support in supplier negotiations, for staff and colleagues.Liaise and influence key stakeholders to ensure procurement objectives are recognised, supported and achieved.Represent the function at internal and external meetings and events, ensuring the function and company are professionally reflected.Presentation of procurement metrics and status reports at organizational regular meetings.Essential skills, experience and knowledge requirements:

The successful candidate must;

Candidates must hold a relevant primary Degree or Masters Degree within a business, procurement or related field.CIPS level 5.Previous management level experience / experience of leading a team and delivering change successfully.Sufficient technical competence and awareness to support complex supplier dialogues (with support of technical experts, e.g. design engineers).Strong background in effective Supplier Relationship and Performance Management, demonstrating value driven focus.Competent in negotiation of contract terms.Experience in commodity and category management.Excellent interpersonal skills, able to demonstrate effective leadership and change management skills.Strong quantitative and analytical skills.Previous experience in use of ERP systems.Competency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.Be able to work positively and collaboratively with the wider stakeholder community, both internal and external.Be able to work on their own or as part of a team.Be able to pro-actively and effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and deliver results.Have self-discipline, motivation, the ability to organise your workload and overcome problems as they arise.The ability to frequently travel away from home for work purposesYour future at MacTaggart Scott – What we offer you.
