About the role
The University of Sussex Housing Services is seeking to appoint a friendly and organised individual to the role of Summer Housing Assistant, supporting the team in delivering our summer allocations and arrivals period. The post holder will help coordinate housing enquiries via telephone, email, social media, and our reception desk, helping applicants, students, agents, parents, and current residents.
About you
You will need to be an organised individual, with effective planning skills and strong attention to detail. You will need to display a level of flexibility, for example, the ability to switch between multiple tasks efficiently. You will have the skills to manage your own workload and at times, support other colleagues within the Housing Services Team. You will communicate clearly with the team, line management, and stakeholders. An exemplary level of customer service is required, alongside effective oral and written communication skills, in order to quickly build rapport and respond to questions and queries.
About our Division
The University Housing Services team is responsible for managing the application, allocation, and tenancy management of approximately 5,000 bed-spaces (and rising), all of which are let on a self-catering basis. The majority of the housing is located on the Falmer campus, but there are also a number of properties in the city of Brighton & Hove.
The Housing Services Team also provides an excellent and comprehensive package of support to assist students who will be living in the Private Sector with advice and guidance in navigating their way through the private rental market, providing support and assistance in a friendly and student focused way.
The University has signed up to the UUK Code of Practice for the Management of Student Housing. Emphasis is placed on assisting students in a professional and caring manner.
