Position Summary
Main job functions
Effectively lead engineering projects from conception to hand over and provide continued technical support post handover
Support other engineering projects and maintenance activities
Routinely achieve individual targets and make significant contributions to team and company objectives
Deliver continuous improvement initiatives for wider business benefit
Key point of contact for operations and maintenance support requirements.
Principle Accountabilities
Duties, Responsibilities and Key Tasks
Engineering Projects
Design new and improved equipment or facilities
Produce detailed drawings for quotation, construction and as built records
Produce specifications for quotation and purchasing purposes
Raise and maintain documentation for project and purchase approval
Source new equipment and liaise with potential suppliers
Survey existing equipment and facilities
Participate in machinery safety risk assessments
Perform project and contract risk assessments
Carry out contractor inductions and issue Permits to Work
Produce safety check sheets and maintenance schedules for new equipment
Lead project teams to deliver agreed improvements to company asset
Direct responsibility for project delivery, budget control and managing contractors
Control all aspects of projects by following agreed project management processes
Effectively manage internal processes and communications
Ensure internal customers and stakeholders deliver agreed contributions to planned
activities in a timely manner to meet overall project objectives
Take timely and effective action to mitigate project risks and performance issues
Provide technical advice and assistance in individual areas of expertise
By analysing all available data provide a monthly delay report and communicate any actions to improve reliability.
Ensure that current machinery on site is capable of achieving agreed uptime targets.
Health and Safety
Design and specify engineering solutions which comply with company / corporate standards and statutory requirements
Manage contractors to ensure that all work is conducted in accordance with site safety standards and regulations
Prepare procedures and method statements and actively monitor compliance
Perform risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement measures to reduce / eliminate risks
Quality
Design and specify engineering solutions which meet company, corporate and industry quality standards
Actively seek solutions to quality issues and consider future requirements in proposals
Ensure timely and accurate completion of all project documentation
People
Communicate objectives and work priorities and give regular updates to all team members, customers and stakeholders
Assess and communicate targets / priorities and allocate resources in an appropriate manner in order to achieve defined objectives.
Ensure that all relevant knowledge and learning is documented and transferred appropriately
Act as a role model by demonstrating professionalism and balanced judgement
Carry out the job requirements in full compliance with the Code of Conduct.
Support and demonstrate the '4 Values' and associated 'behaviours' in carrying out your duties and responsibilities.
Learn and follow the safety requirements in relation to your job.

Qualifications / Skills Required
HNC or Degree in Mechanical discipline or equivalent
Project management techniques
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Computer literacy (MS Office + MS Project).
Problem solving / analytical skills e.g root cause analysis, pareto
Planning and organisational skills
Ability to motivate and lead teams
Self motivation with the ability to drive through results - drive for continuous improvement
Personal effectiveness, integrity and balanced judgement
Experience Require
Track record of successfully leading multi-disciplinary project teams
Managing complex projects from conception to commissioning
Design and construction of industrial machinery and systems
Installation, commissioning and maintenance of industrial machinery
Consideration will be given to an experienced mechanical technicians looking for career progression into a project engineering role
Knowledge Required
Wide knowledge of site assets
Detailed knowledge and expertise in specific equipment and facilities
Broad understanding of production processes
Health and Safety legislation and design codes
Demonstrated competence / understanding of site safety systems, including permit to work procedures and other company policies.
