We are seeking a talented and passionate individual to join our team as a teacher of History from September 2024. You will either be an experienced practitioner with excellent pedagogical knowledge and communication skills or have the potential to develop into such a practitioner. The ability to teach History at all key stages is essential; the ability to teach Geography or another humanities subject would be an advantage.

The History Department at Hitchin Girls' School is a very special place to teach. The department teaches the following units for AQA GCSE History: America , Cold War, , Health in Britain 100-present Day and Elizabethan England. For A Level we teach: Edexcel History Route E: Communist States in the twentieth century and Protest, Agitation and Reform in Britain, The syllabus is enriched with opportunities for students to attend a trip to Berlin in Year 10 and an revision interactive medicine show in Year 11. For A Level we have sessions with historians of the periods taught to further engage our students. It is hoped the successful candidate will contribute to the department's objective of encouraging students to 'think like historians'. In addition the department teaches Edexcel Politics.
