Arla Aylesbury

This is an exciting opportunity. You'll be able to work with state of the art machinery at our largest flagship dairy. Built in 2010, covering 76 acres, 100% carbon neutral dairy is the very first of its kind in the world It plays a big part in helping Arla to #feedthenation, producing a staggering 1 billion litres of milk per year. You'll receive internal and external training, to ensure that you meet your fullest potential.

Purpose of role:

  • Undertake the analysis of wastewater and sludge samples
  • Carry out testing, recording and analysis of results as part of the laboratory team
  • Deliver practical, technical solutions on site
  • Provide the support necessary for effective performance within established quality, health safety and environmental standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Collection and analysis of samples using safe working and good housekeeping practice.
  • Performing laboratory tests accurately following developed methodologies
  • Maintaining, calibrating and operating standard laboratory equipment
  • Interpreting data and reporting internally to colleagues
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for new tests
  • Recording and interpreting results, drawing on the expertise of colleagues.
  • Develop and maintain familiarity with technical topics relevant the industry
  • To perform any other duties as reasonably required by the Company.
  • At all times work in a way that demonstrates the Company's business methods
  • Maintain high standards in terms of appearance, conduct and Company property.

Skills required to do this role:

  • The ability to learn specific, practical techniques and apply this knowledge to solve technical problems;
  • Time management skills
  • Excellent oral communication skills to work effectively and to explain complex techniques with colleagues from all parts of the organisation
  • Knowledge of analytical tests relevant to wastewater

Personal attributes:

  • IT Literate, particularly MS Office products
  • Proactive in identifying issues, communicating and problem solving
