Junior Quantitative Analyst - Data Analyst - Equity Trading


Excellent and high-visibility opportunity for a Quantitative Analyst/Data Analyst with a keen interest in (or prior knowledge of) equity trading to join a leading International firm.

The successful hire would be involved in a variety of tasks ranging from the analysis of market microstructure and its effects on algorithmic trading to overseeing tooling and key performance metrics for algo performance.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Detailed analysis of market microstructure and associated parameters (eg venue types, auction processes, price formation, trading signals/triggers, market liquidity, forecasting of trading parameters).
  • Monitoring of electronic trading components and style of trading. (Order Types and usage, Smart Order Routers, Execution strategies such as VWAP or IS)
  • Research into the prediction of market liquidity (trading volume, spreads, volatilities)
  • Best Execution requirements used for measuring algo performance.
  • Analysis and implementation of potential, new trading strategies.
  • Programming and delivering bespoke solutions (eg complex data requests) for internal and external clients.
  • Visualisation tools and large data analysis techniques.
  • Opportunity to be involved in conceptual/programmatic development of cutting-edge algorithms and analytics applications for Real Time and historical use.
  • Front office role that involves interaction with traders and external clients, eg explanation of details of the developed models and methods.
  • Preparation and dissemination of research results, both internally and to clients.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCES ASSESSMENT

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to oversee meetings with senior managers and other teams.
  • Some prior experience with programing languages Python preferred.
  • Knowledge of Shell scripting, R, SQL or KDB is a plus.
  • Familiarity with database structures and large query optimization beneficial.
  • Experience with the analysis of large (financial) data sets.
  • Understand and reasonable usage of data visualization tools such as Tableau, Microstrategy, PowerBI, Qlik or similar.
  • Great team player with excellent command of the English language,
  • Able to work independently and to solve and prioritise problems under time pressure.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

  • Masters in scientific subject, eg (financial) mathematics, physics or computer science.
  • Demonstration of a keen interest in finance/trading (e.g. previous internships or financial graduate role)
