The position would be particularly suitable for students taking a gap year following their Year 13 studies or graduates looking to gain experience of working in the education environment before pursuing a career working with young people.

The successful candidate will:

· Help students with their work in all areas of the curriculum according to a negotiated timetable

· Build up relationships with students in the class who may not have previously experienced much success at school

· Attend to students' personal care including helping some with toileting; following the advice of medical professionals, psychologists and social workers working with the school

· Plan with teachers how individual students' educational needs can best be met in lessons and, where appropriate, helping adapt learning resources

· Be a positive team player, willing to pitch in and help out where needed and believe in the importance of team work and a collaborative approach
