About the Organisation:
  • Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) is a part of NHS National Services Scotland (NSS).
  • Serving under the Scottish Government, NSS provides national support services and expert advice to NHSScotland.
  • SNBTS specializes in supplying high-quality blood, tissues, cells, products, and services to meet patient transfusion needs.
  • Within SNBTS, the Patient Services division oversees patient care for stem cell collection and therapeutic apheresis procedures.
The Role:
  • This Consultant Haematologist position offers up to 8 PA's per week within the SNBTS Patient Services Division at the Edinburgh and South East Scotland Regional Centre.
  • Primary responsibilities include providing consultant-level Transfusion Medicine support to clinical laboratories and apheresis units.
  • The post-holder will participate in the SNBTS National Consultant Rota for on-call duties.
  • Time for professional development will be provided with mandatory CPD compliance.
Requirements:
  • Applicants must be registered medical practitioners on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council.
  • Candidates need to undergo a PVG Scheme check and maintain GMC registration.
Location and Hours:
  • Based in the SNBTS Edinburgh and South East Scotland Regional Centre with a 32-hour workweek.
