We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to join our amazing research team at the induced pluripotent stem cell Research Facility (iPSC SRF), Centre for Human Genetics, Nuffield Department of Medicine.

You will work on collaborative projects involving the culture, genetic manipulation, and differentiation of human iPSCs into multiple lineages including cortical neurons and brain organoids. As the Research Assistant you will be reporting to Dr Phalguni Rath.

You will be responsible for maintaining human iPSC lines and perform directed differentiations as required. You will be tasked with performing essential experiments for genotyping CRISPR edited human iPS clones and for characterization of differentiated cells. You will be contributing to scientific reports and journal articles and the presentation of data/papers at conferences as well as contributing to discussions and share research findings with colleagues in partner institutions, and research groups. You will also be responsible for selecting, following, and adapting established iPSC differentiation protocols and actively participating in different rota, including the weekend cover for stem cell maintenance.

To be successful in this role, you will hold a BSc degree in cell biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, or stem cell-related field, along with experience in human primary cell culture and standard molecular biology techniques, such as preparation of genomic DNA, PCR, and immunocytochemistry. You will also have experience following and adapting protocols and selecting appropriate experimental methodologies. You will have excellent communication skills, including the ability to write text that can be published, present data at conferences, and represent the research group at meetings.
