Senior Export Cable Project Engineer

Our client is a global leader in offshore wind, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Export Cable Project Engineer to join our team in London, UK.

In this role, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful design, manufacture, installation, and testing of export cables for our offshore wind farms. You will be responsible for leading the technical interfaces within the cable package, providing expert technical input to internal and external stakeholders, and overseeing all quality assurance and control activities.

What you will do:

  • Manage the engineering of export cables, including jointing, termination, and testing, ensuring compliance with high voltage cable (HVC) requirements and standards.
  • Lead the technical interfaces for the cable package, providing HVC expertise to internal teams and suppliers.
  • Ensure that technical requirements are incorporated into supplier designs.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on their technical proposals.
  • Oversee the detailed design process and ensure it meets certification requirements.
  • Verify supplier designs through technical documentation review and in-house analysis tools.
  • Review and approve cable routing plans on Offshore Substation (OSS) systems.
  • Provide technical input on project risks, opportunities, change requests, and claims.
  • Manage project changes not covered by formal change requests.
  • Participate in technical and quality audits alongside the QHSE team.
  • Define and coordinate project-specific inspection and testing activities, including those involving Certified Verification Agents (CVA).
  • Review and approve quality-related documentation from suppliers.
  • Prepare and maintain inspection checklists for testing activities.
  • Develop and assign asset codes for project components.
  • Create and maintain the O&M Level 2 Manual for handover to the Operations and Maintenance team.
  • Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Lessons Learned (LL) in company system.



You are the ideal candidate if you have:

  • A strong understanding of high voltage cable systems, including both electrical and thermal aspects.
  • The ability to interpret industry standards and Technical Requirements (TRs).
  • A proven track record of delivering effective technical solutions to complex challenges.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience working with high voltage export cables and accessories (both theoretical and practical).
  • Excellent project engineering skills, including strong technical expertise, integrity, communication, adaptability, teamwork, and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience with IT tools and procedures.

This is a 12-month contract position with the option for a 6-month extension.
