Cardiff Education Catering operates a service to circa 120 Secondary, Primary, and Special schools in Cardiff through 500 staff producing around 4 million meals per annum, providing breakfast, lunch and therapeutic diets for pupils, vending services and occasion catering for business meetings.

About the job

The Cook in Charge will be responsible for managing all aspects of the business and service activities Flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the service.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To oversee food production including, menu planning, food preparation, portion control, presentation and service.
  • Organisation and supervision of the food service and promotion of the service to customers.
  • Supervision of other employees, including allocation of duties, work rotas and training.
  • Supervision and control of hygiene and health and safety.
  • Security of the kitchen and its surrounds.
  • Ensuring equipment is maintained.
  • Ensuring clerical duties are maintained, for example the ordering of supplies and control of budgets.
  • Support the service area by covering schools dispersed across the City where cover is needed due to management absences.

  • As a term of your employment you may be required to undertake such other duties and/or times of work as may reasonably be required of you, commensurate with your grade or general level of responsibility within the organisation.
  • Although you will be provided with a base, you will be required to work from various locations in accordance with the needs of the role.
